Obituary

Toy Speck, 80, of Newberry, passed away 7:42 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born February 20, 1928 in Jonesville, Virginia, he was the son of Frank and Dora Speck.
He worked in the small arms and night vision departments at NWSC Crane, retiring in 1988. He served his country in the Korean War with the United States Army. He was a member of the Odon Baptist Church, the Mitchell American Legion, and the White River Baptist Association Disaster Relief Team.
Surviving relatives include: his wife of 46 years, Betty J. (Nichols) Speck whom he married July 15, 1961; two daughters, Becky Neeley and her husband Doug of Bloomfield and Mary McCarty and her husband Carl of Louisville, Kentucky; one brother, James Speck of Jonesville, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Bryce Neeley, Shelby Neeley, and Stephanie Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bud, Louis, and Creed, three sisters, Mildred, Sally Belle, and Fannie
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home Lyons, Indiana, with Rev. Allen Haynes and Rev. Jason Karper officiating. Interment will be in Mount Nebo cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
He is remembered, loved, and cherished by his family and friends in Christian faith. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Odon Baptist Church or the American Red Cross.
