Susan Cook, 81, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025 at her home in Bloomfield. Born March 20, 1944, she was the daughter of George Lawrence Kidd and Katherine Imogene Kidd.
Susan attended Indiana University where she received bachelor's and master's degrees in Education. She dedicated more than 20 years of her life to teaching second grade at Bloomfield Elementary, where she touched the lives of countless students with her nurturing spirit and passion for learning.
Susan found great joy in nature and was known for her love of long walks, finding peace and beauty in the world around her. She hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back on three separate occasions with her bestie, Dee.
Surviving relatives include: her daughter, Kimberly (Cook) Bacon; her son, Jonathan Cook (Julie); her sister-in-law, Dee (Tom) Franklin; and her beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Bacon, Kimberly Cook, Allyson Cook, and Madison Cook. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Kidd; her sisters, Barbara Tarrant and Margaret Uland; her nephew, Bruce Wiles; and her parents.
