Paul Cecil (Sonny) Burris Jr. 68, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi formerly of Bloomfield, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his daughters residence in Bloomfield.
Born September 19, 1944 in San Bernardino, California, he was the son of Paul Cecil Sr. and Lucille (Driscol) Burris.
He was an Electronic Technician for NSWC Crane retiring in 1994 and was a member of the Antioch Christian Church and the Solsberry Masonic Lodge.
Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Robin Baker (Donnie) of Bloomfield, Kim Sievers of Canton, Mississippi and Lynda Thomas (Joe) of Springboro, Ohio; one son, Paul Cecil (Sonny) Burris III (Michelle) of Bargersville; three brothers, Larry G. Burris of Owensburg, John R. Burris of Bloomfield and James R. Burris of Owensburg; eight grandchildren, Derek Baker (Juli), Lauren Sparks (Corey), Abigail Rudibaugh (Dan), Katelyn Donovan (Matt), Sarah Jo Mercer (Larry), Victoria Sievers, Danielle Burris and Kyle Burris; two great grandchildren, Raigan Baker and Gertie Jo Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janet Sue Burris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 1 hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Masonic Lodge Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Barton Burris Scholarship fund through the Greene County Foundation.
