Nancy Ann (Aldridge) Peterson formally of Switz City, Indiana died October 8, 2016 in Charlotte, N.C. Born on March 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Relle and Lucille Aldridge.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Indiana University with a B.A. Degree in Music Education.
Throughout her life, her passion was her music and teaching piano lessons.
From 1963-1969 she and her husband Byron raised their three daughters in Walnut Creek, California where she volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader. After moving to New Jersey in 1969, she taught piano lessons, played golf in a women's league, volunteered at Valley Hospital and was a member of the Ridgewood Singers. She formed the singing group The Belle's which performed locally and also had the opportunity to sing in Germany. They attended the Ridgewood Methodist Church where they were active in Christian Education.
In 1988 they relocated to Dallas Tx., where Nancy continued teaching piano and was a mentor to young adults for several years.
After retirement they moved to Charlotte N. C. where she continued her teaching, was secretary of the Garden Club, and a docent at the Mint Museum where she enjoyed sharing her knowledge to school groups.
She enjoyed her summer's on Cape Cod, Ma where her family would gather. She loved to play a competitive game of miniature golf, scrabble and sing around the campfire with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband Byron of 61 years of marriage and their three daughters; Karen Gibson of Springfield , Il; Susan Peterson of Jeffersonville, Vt; and Debbie Young of Ivyland, Pa.; brother Lee Aldridge of Royal Center, In.
Funeral services will be held at Jenkins Funeral Home, 421 S. Seminary St,.Bloomfield, In. on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Calling hours are 10:00am -11:00am with a service at 11:00am.
Burial at Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
