Kenneth H. Sullivan

Kenneth H. Sullivan, 85, of Solsberry, passed away at 11:30 A.M. on Friday November 9, 2007 at Garden Villa in Bloomington. Born March 24, 1922 in Greene County, he was the son of Roy M. and Charlotte "Lottie" (Combs) Sullivan. He worked in maintenance for Eastern schools retiring in 2003 after 33 years of service. He was also a farmer and a heavy equipment operator. He was a WW II veteran earning a bronze star and also fought in the battle of the buldge. He was a member of the Solsberry United Methodist Church, a 62 year member of the Solsberry American Legion Post # 450, the Solsberry Sons of the American Legion, and was past teasurer and one of the founding members of the Estern Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving relatives include: three sons, Larry D. and his wife Karen and Jimmy and his wife Vicki all of Bloomfield, and Norman and his wife Nancy of Solsberry; six grandchildren, Rhonda Black, Regina Brown, Daniel Sullivan, David Sullivan, Curt Sullivan, and Luke Sullivan; ten great, grandchildren, Grace Black, Meredith Black, Elizabeth Brown, Elaine Brown, Erin Brown, Alex Sullivan, Adriana Sullivan, Logan Sullivan, Rylan Sullivan, and Kenli Sullivan; one sister, Louise Melville of Solsberry; three sister-in-laws, Barbara Sullivan of Spencer, Opal Young of Bloomington, and Alice Ford of California; one brother-in-law, Bert Combs of Ellettsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maude E. (Fowler) Sullivan whom he married November 1, 1941 and passed away in 2002, two sisters, Imogene Bough and Mildred Meredith, one brother, Keith Sullivan, and one granddaughter, Carly Jo Sullivan. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Robert Martindale officiating. Interment will be in Greene County Chapel cemetery in Solsberry where military honors will be presented by Solsberry American Legion Post #450. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 1 hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Solsberry American Legion or the donor's favorite charity.
