John "Keith" Crane, 84, of Bloomfield, passed away 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington.
Born January 16, 1924 in Solsberry, he was the son of John Edward and Blanche Mae (Bullock) Crane.
He was an ammunition specialist for NWSC Crane retiring January 16, 1981 after 35 years of service. He served his country with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the Solsberry Christian Church, Solsberry Masonic Lodge # 411, Solsberry American Legion Post # 450, and the Stanford Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Kent Crane and his wife Suellen of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Louann Garrett and husband Eric of Mooresville and Lisa Childress and husband Ron of Bloomfield; three sisters, Joann Haywood of Bloomfield, Laura Jean Hollingshead of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mary Lou Corlett of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, Scott Crane and wife Martha, Steven Crane and wife Kate, Eric Crane and wife Jiyoung, Kasie Johnson and husband Mark, Luke Childress and wife Tina, Jonathan Childress, Jordan Childress, and Jason Childress; five great, grandchildren, Alex Crane, Abby Crane, Brooke Crane, Justin Crane, and JD Childress.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Madge Marie (Oliphant) Crane July 20, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Solsberry Christian Church, with Rev. Byron Williams, Rev. Erin Miller, Stewart Cobine, and Jim Weimer officiating. Interment will be in Solsberry cemetery, where military services will be conducted by Solsberry American Legion Post # 450.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 hour prior to services Saturday ALL AT SOLSBERRY CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
