Obituary

Mrs. Johanna Bernice Talley, 91, formerly of Newberry, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
Born May 3, 1922 in Bismark County, North Dakota, she was the daughter of Halvor T. and Clara Elaine (Hovdenes) Digerness.
During World War II she worked as a welder at the shipyard in Seattle. After the war she returned home with her husband Clyde to raise their four children on a farm near Newberry.
She was a member of the Newberry United Methodist Church, Newberry Order of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors and the Do Better Club.
Surviving relatives include: her children, Newton Talley (Kay) and Gayle Talley (Linda) both of Greenwood, Joyce Koranda (Gary) of Swisher, Iowa and Nancey Wiggington (Elmer) of Higbee, Missouri; one sister, Selma Digerness of Port Orchard, Washington; five grandchildren, three great, grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Clyde Talley in 1997, one sister, Agnes Palmerson, brothers, Toralf Digerness, Clarence Digerness, Harris Digerness and Gordon Digerness.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Newberry United Methodist Church, with Pastor Steve Dunkel officiating. Interment will follow in Newberry cemetery.
Public visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
The family asks that all memorial contributions may be made to the Newberry United Methodist Church.
