Jim Thomas, 80, of Spencer, passed away at 7:58 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at McCormick's Creek Nursing Home in Spencer.

Born March 21, 1945 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Landon Allen and Hazel (Hashman) Thomas.

Jim worked for Ford Motor Corporation in Greencastle and later at the Indiana State Capital Building in Indianapolis as a janitor. He attended Unionville Pentecostal Church. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was an avid woodsman.

Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Sheila Ranard (Mike); two sons, Mike Thomas (Cathy) and Craig Thomas; four grandchildren, Joshua Mobley, Branden Mobley, Misty Daniel and Dusty Ranard; six great grandchildren, Levi Ranard, Jenny Daniel, James Mobley, Piper Daniel, Lillian Mobley and Caleb Mobley; sisters, Helen, Betty, Margaret and Alice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue (White) Thomas on September 2, 2013, two brothers, Dave and Wilbur and his parents.

Private family services were held on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The family asks that any memorial contributions may be made to Jenkins Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
