Obituary

James Elmo Smith, 82, of Bloomfield, Ind., passed away Sunday, November 18th, 2012, at Hospice Care in Ellettsville, IN. He was born on February 2nd, 1930 to John and Susan (Stalcup) Smith, in their home north of Bloomfield.
James was a veteran of the Korean War, honorably discharged from the 38th Infantry with the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from Crane and was also employed previously at Bloomfield Manufacturing. "Jim" was an Elder of the Furnace Christian Church.
James is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Randy and Teressa Smith of Bloomfield; and grandchildren: Eli and Natasha Eccles of Ellettsville; and Ross Smith of Bloomington.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jo Smith and infant daughter and also by his parents and well as sisters, Frances, Jean, Elizabeth, Betty and brothers Joe and John Elmo.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 21st, 2012, at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Indiana with Reverend George Sites officiating. Interment will follow at the Scotland Cemetery in Scotland, IN.
Visitation hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Furnace Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
