Elmer R. "Smitty" Smith, 89, of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday July 12, 2011 at his residence.
Born January 19, 1922 in Buffalo, New York the son of Raymond L. and May (Forbes) Smith.
Smitty worked at NSWC Crane in the Ordinance Department retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran of WWII and the Korean War, he was a member of the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church and the Knights of Pythias.
He has one surviving daughter; Letitia R. Smith of Spring Park, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma L. (Slaven) Smith on September 14, 1985; two brothers, one sister, and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Saturday and 1 P.M. Sunday until the hour of service at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Murray Thompson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Grandview Cemetery.
