Obituary

Bloomfield native, Donald Hash, slipped the surly bonds of earth and returned to God on Friday, 15 March after his battle with cancer.

He was born on the family farm in Richland Township in 1930, the eighth of fifteen children born to Steve and Marguerite Blaker Hash.

At the young age of sixteen, he joined the US Army, where he served five years as an engineer, leaving the Army in 1952. After leaving the Army he returned to Greene County where he married the former Nina L. Kirk. In 1955, he reentered the military enlisting in the US Air Force as an electronics repairman and airborne radio operator. His assignments took him around the world. The culmination of his career was providing presidential airlift support for three different US presidents and their staffs.

Upon his retirement, he returned to Greene County where he held a variety of jobs as a local cable TV manager and working for the town of Bloomfield as a policeman and water treatment manager. He eventually returned to serve the military as an electronic technician supervisor at NAD Crane. Donald was a member of the Morgan Street Church of Christ in Martinsville.

In 1984, he married Iris E. Wiles whom he leaves behind. He is also survived by his three sons: James, Steve and Russell Hash plus three step children: Carri Epeards Glidden, Bobby Epeards and Michele Epeards Hollingsworth. He leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Edna Eldridge, Naomi Dart and Sarah Murphy and one brother, Bill Hash.
