Absent from the body. Present with the Lord. Having courageously fought her battle with cancer, our precious mother, grandmother, and sister left this world to join in a celebration with her brother, sisters, and her Savior.
Born to Woodrow Wilson Elkins and Hilda Mae (Burch) Elkins, in Sandborn, Indiana, Bonnie was raised, along with her brother Malcolm, by Clint and Alice Bohley.
Bonnie was happiest when she was with her children, grandchildren, and sisters. She was a devoted caregiver, and her grandchildren knew that there was no one like their "Gram." Her faith, loyalty, devotion, and sense of humor made her the center of her family. She loved the country and frequently traveled back to the Nine Mile community to visit the "old farm" where she was raised. She had a strong personal interest in the history and care of the Bohley Cemetery.
She leaves behind her children Teresa and Greg Bartlett, Mary Ruth Skinner, and Rick and Arlene Skinner; her grandchildren Heath, Cassidy, and Liza Bartlett, Elijah Archer, and Taylor, Zachry, Brody, and Cole Skinner; her sisters Thelma Archer and Laverne "Bobbie" Franklin; her brother-in-heart William Franklin, and her brother Donnie Ray Elkins; and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie is now reunited with her parents, foster parents, brother Malcolm Bohley, and sisters Ruth (Dear Aunt Ruth) Penrod and Vercie Osborne.
Visitation will be at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 4:00-8:00 on Sunday, July 7.
The funeral will be held at Jenkins on Monday at 11:00. The service will be conducted by Reverend Arlen Pope, a dear family friend. Burial will be at the Bohley Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bohley Cemetery, in care of Jenkins Funeral Home.
