Betty Lou Griffith age 86
Betty Lou Griffith passed away Monday morning, January 20th, at the McCormick's Creek Nursing Home.
Betty was born to the late Timothy and Lula (Terrell) Horn on July 20th 1927 in Bedford, IN. After the death of her mother she was adopted by Carl and Audra Griffith. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1945. Betty married Willis Dean Griffith on June 2nd, 1946, and resided in Bloomfield the remainder of her life. As a member of the United Methodist Church of Bloomfield she served as coordinator for weddings, receptions, Christmas and Easter Celebrations. She designed and made her own decorations and linens. Each wedding was special as she carried out the wishes of the couple. Betty was a member of Mother's Club and a Den Mother of the Cub Scouts. Betty also sang at many weddings and funerals in her younger years and sang often in the United Methodist Church solo and also with her son Patrick. She had a beautiful voice.
Betty enjoyed vacationing with her husband and family of three boys yearly in Traverse City MI, and enjoyed making several trips to England. Her favorite pets were Pepper the beagle and Kissy Kat her cat.
She is survived by two sons Lance Randall and Patrick Carl Griffith, two grandchildren, Patrick Brooks Griffith of Tucson, AZ, and Brittany Dawn Griffith of Bloomfield, and 3 great grand-children, Cameron Patrick Griffith, Leanna Rae Robertson and Jason Ray Robertson Jr., one brother David Nunn and wife Rhea Dawn Nunn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Michael Griffith, two Brothers Timothy (Slug) Horn and General Martin (Jake) Horn, and three half-brothers Leonard Horn, Charles Horn, Marshall Horn and one half-sister Realindis Grow.
The family wishes any donations be made to the Greene County Humane Society.
Betty's desire was to be cremated. There will be no viewing or funeral services. There will be a memorial service 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 8, 2014 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church
