Charles Herbert Martindale, 84, of Solsberry passed away Thursday January 17, 2012 at Garden Villa in Bloomington.

Born May 17, 1928 in Bloomfield, Indiana the son of Frank Lester and Bessie Belle (Blaker) Martindale.

He had worked at Crane, served as the Postmaster at Solsberry and Bank One in Bloomington. He was a US Marine Corp veteran and a member of the Solsberry American Legion Post # 450 and attended the Greene County Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty three years Mildred M. (Sparks) Martindale of Solsberry, his children, Larry Martindale (Marsha) of Solsberry, Robert Martindale (Debbie) of Bloomfield and Stanley Martindale (Tamara) of Solsberry, his grandchildren, Kimberly Walls (Adam), Travis Martindale, Kyle Martindale (Pam), Jessica Lindsey (Kyle), Matthew Martindale (Elizabeth), Tina Salter (Herb) and Nathan Martindale (Brittney). He has eight great grandchildren, brother, James K. Martindale, sister Linda Lou Greene, sister-in-law Sandra Martindale, uncle Fred Martindale and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Katherine Kindred Carpenter and Ruby Anderson, brothers Wilbur and Eugene.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. on Saturday and 1 P.M. on Sunday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Robert Martindale and Matt Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Chapel Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be made to the Greene County Chapel Cemetery.
