Charles Jackson Sims, 73, of Bloomfield passed away Friday April 6, 2012 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Born December 19, 1938 in Worthington, Indiana the son of Bernard Sims and Vada (Armpriester) Sims.
Charles graduated from Switz City High School in 1957. Charles retired from Indiana University in 2000. He was a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 84, Bloomfield Order of Eastern Star, Bethel 72 International Order of Job's Daughters and Bloomfield Order of Odd Fellows. He served in the National Guard.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 49 years Linda (Veatch) Sims whom he married on October 7, 1962, his daughter Darlene Sims and his son Tony Sims all of Bloomfield. His grandchildren Claire Sims and Caleb Elkins, one step great grandson Conner Elkins, his brothers Harold (Claudia) Sims of Asheville, North Carloina and Terry (Shirley) Sims of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister-in-law Betty (Gordon) Dreiman of Arnold, Missouri and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday and 10 A.M. Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Odd Fellows memorial service will be held at 7 P.M. and Masonic Memorial at 7:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Arlen Pope and Rev. Dave Wilde officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
